Ripple: “every career starts in the classroom”

DonorsChoose.org is a non-profit project which allows teachers and classrooms to request funding online. Started by a history teacher, DonorsChoose allows the public to supply underfunded classrooms with the tools and supplies they need to further the education of their students.

The idea behind DonorsChoose is to let contributors see exactly where their money is going. Donors can easily choose which projects they wish to fund and can rest assured knowing their donation goes directly to the classroom. With its donation, Ripple stated that it hopes to inspire generations of students to reach their full potential, and ensure they have the foundation to do so. “In part, it’s the teachers we encounter in our formative years that enable us to pursue ambitious goals,” Ripple stated in a recent post. “We’re thrilled to announce that Ripple and its executive team are giving back to America’s teachers with a $29 million dollar donation in XRP to DonorsChoose.org.”

Stephen Colbert uses donation announcement to encourage others to donate

DonorsChoose has since praised Ripple’s contribution through an emphatic post on its website. “Our generous friends at Ripple kicked things off by funding all classroom requests on the site,” the organization stated. “As new requests roll in, give below to make sure teachers in every community have the resources they need.”The contribution was announced on Late Night With Stephen Colbert, where Colbert prompted viewers to make contributions of their own. https://twitter.com/colbertlateshow/status/978842869044690944?s=21“Ripple, creator of the virtual currency XRP - look it up - has funded all 35,000 classroom projects on DonorsChoose.org,” said Colbert. “It’s the largest donation to DonorsChoose in history, $29 million dollars.” As part of the #BestSchoolDay campaign, the public is invited to contribute to inspiring projects and classrooms in need of funding.
