Lighthouse Labs Launches Blockchain Developer Course

Recently, Lighthouse Labs announced the launch of the Lighthouse Labs Blockchain developer course in Canada. The course aims to help overcome a current shortage of developers in the blockchain space, through helping experienced developers in adjacent fields strengthen their blockchain understanding.

The 12-week, part-time course is designed to bolster the newly emerging blockchain scene. Largely, these types of initiatives look to ensure that the industry continues to grow alongside up-and-coming talent in both Canada and abroad.

Blockchain for Developers’ first cohort will take place in Toronto in 2018, and applicants are approved through a competitive enrolment process. Later this year, the course will also be held in Toronto and in Vancouver, and there are plans to make the course available in other parts of Canada in the near future.“As the understanding of blockchain’s vast business benefits increases, Canadian organizations are looking for specialized developer talent, yet there’s a severe lack of it, due to low availability of training,” said Lighthouse Labs CEO, Jeremy Shaki, in a press release. “With the help of industry experts, current blockchain specialists and active blockchain developers, we’ve put together a robust curriculum including group discussions, lectures, mentorship and project-based learning, that will help developers learn the tools necessary to be successful in blockchain development.”

“Talent is the biggest challenge impeding blockchain growth”

While the blockchain industry grows in popularity and businesses continue to invest in the nascent technology, projects rely on bright minds and industry talent to sustain the innovative movement. As a result, a subsequent demand for experienced developers is expected. This is the case with any new addition to the world of technology, and building pathways and educational courses is a way of creating industry talent out of developers operating in adjacent fields. “The most significant challenge inhibiting growth in blockchain today is sourcing qualified talent,” said Peter Smyrniotis, CEO of Blockchain Assembly. “The program that Lighthouse Labs has developed will give us, and other Canadian businesses, access to talent that can help maintain Canada’s place as a global leader in blockchain technology.”According to the course’s official page, Blockchain for Developers is designed for professional developers that are interested in learning about, and getting involved in, the blockchain technology industry.
